My Approach to Therapy

As a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in a broad spectrum of therapeutic areas including ADHD, adoption, alcohol use, Alzheimer's, anxiety, behavioral issues, child and adolescent challenges, coping skills, family conflict, grief, peer relationships, relationship issues, school issues, self-esteem, depression, dual diagnosis, stress, and women's issues, with a strong commitment to the LGBTQ+ community, the approach is deeply rooted in trauma-informed care and child development. This work is aimed at assisting children and teens, particularly those in crisis, to navigate the complexities of their emotions and experiences. By integrating extensive training and a keen understanding of the intricacies of trauma and mood disorders, there is a collaborative effort with clients to identify the core challenges they face, developing personalized treatment plans that harness coping strategies tailored to their unique situations.

Incorporating Strengths-Based Therapy into practice emphasizes the importance of recognizing and building upon each client's innate resources and qualities. This approach allows addressing and transforming various stressors into opportunities for growth and resilience-building. The therapeutic journey embarked upon is designed to not only address immediate concerns but to foster a long-lasting, positive outlook on life's challenges. Through sessions, clients learn to leverage their resilience and strengths, achieving their personal goals and overcoming adversity with confidence and grace.

The journey into social work was driven by a deep-seated desire to help others, inspired by the stories of resilience and triumph over adversity. Experiences range from working with the elderly in healthcare settings, where there was a profound appreciation for their life stories, to stepping out of the comfort zone to work with children, teens, and treatment foster families. This transition has enriched the perspective, teaching the incredible resilience possessed not only by adults but by younger individuals as well. The career is a testament to the power of stepping into vulnerability and embracing the unknown, and it's a privilege to guide clients through their own journeys of self-discovery and healing.
