My Approach to Therapy

I have worked in the mental health field for 10 years now and have had the honor of working in many settings from intensive outpatient to a cooperative member led non-profit to private practice. These opportunities have given me experience working with young children to older adults and even families. I'm all about empowering individuals to discover their inner strength and building healthy relationships with themselves and those around them. Whether you're grappling with the strains of daily stress, wrestling with anxiety, or the rollercoaster of life's transitions, I am here to provide unwavering support.
First sessions are all about getting to know you, what got you to where you are right now, figuring where you want to be, and giving you the space you need to trust me (I get it! This is hard!). You can expect that we'll put in the foundational work to build a strong therapist - client relationship and collaborate all along your mental health journey to reach your goals. I like to use a combination of treatment types with my clients in order to be flexible to their current needs. I take a client centered, trauma informed approach first and incorporate strategies from CBT to uncover which patterns of thinking are unhelpful and help challenge you to build and incorporate new skills into your everyday life in a way that feels right. I work well with clients developing their sense of self as emerging young adults trying to figure out this season of life and with clients working on establishing healthy boundaries in many of their relationships whether that be in a platonic, romantic, or in family dynamic.
Often times, when starting here, we'll uncover why it has been difficult up until this point and how we can work together to see change in a way that feels best for you. While I take a client led approach, after building a strong therapist - client relationship, I am not afraid to push you to some limits that may feel uncomfortable in the moment, but that are important for your growth.
