Therapist

My Approach to Therapy

Finding a new therapist is often an overwhelming process. Wherever you find yourself on your therapeutic journey, I am honored to partner with you as you pursue your goals of mental health and wellness. My hope is that you will feel safe, comfortable, and supported in our first session together, and if this is not the case, I am committed to helping you find a therapist who might be a better fit. I strive to create a warm and welcoming space for you to come as you are, without fear of judgment. I believe trust is the most critical and important factor in building a strong therapeutic alliance. In sessions, I will listen attentively and provide thoughtful reflection as we explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. My role is to provide emotional support and guidance as you work through challenging emotions and experiences.

During therapy sessions, I utilize a variety of evidenced-based techniques including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also incorporate trauma-informed interventions, motivational interviewing techniques, mindfulness, and solution-focused approaches. The interventions and approaches used in sessions are tailored to the clientโ€™s specific needs and abilities. My overall style as a therapist is strengths-based, casual and relational. In session, we will practice therapeutic skills together so you feel more confident implementing them in your day to day life. I am committed to providing concrete tools, skills, and knowledge for you to increase your understanding and awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Throughout my career, Iโ€™ve worked with a wide range of age groups including children, adolescents, young adults and older adults. My professional experience includes working in a variety of settings such as residential treatment for children and adolescents, partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for clients with eating disorders, inpatient substance use treatment, and outpatient mental health treatment. I have training and experience in the areas of complex trauma, eating disorders, self-harm, suicidality, and crisis intervention. I will see clients with a variety of diagnoses including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders (ADHD and ASD), and trauma related disorders (PTSD). Additionally, I have unique experience working in the field with first responders including police, fire, and EMS personnel. I am passionate about decreasing the stigma around the need for mental health treatment for first responders and other individuals who are repeatedly exposed to traumatic events in the workplace.
